We are pleased to announce that the International Organization of the Flavor Industry (IOFI) is launching a public consultation on the revised Non-flavoring food ingredients section of its Code of Practice (CoP). This revision represents an important milestone in IOFI’s ongoing work to maintain and further develop its Code of Practice, ensuring that it continues to reflect the needs of the flavor industry in alignment with Codex Guidelines.
The revision follows feedback from industry members highlighting the need for additional material and clarification regarding the use of non-flavoring food ingredients in flavoring compounds. As this is an evolving topic for the flavor industry, IOFI established a dedicated Task Force to develop a proposal for an amendment to the existing section of the CoP. This work reflects IOFI’s continued efforts to support the development of industry guidance.
The revised section is now available for public consultation at this link, providing interested stakeholders across the flavor industry value chain with an opportunity to review the draft and submit comments. The feedback received will be considered by IOFI before the final version of the 6th revision of the Code of Practice is adopted.
The IOFI Code of Practice is a publicly available document based on the Codex guidelines for flavorings and provides a voluntary reference for the flavor industry. Through this consultation, IOFI seeks to ensure that the revised section benefits from the knowledge and experience of relevant stakeholders and continues to support the development of a comprehensive and relevant Code of Practice.
Consultation deadline: 30 November 2026
How to submit comments: Interested stakeholders are invited to consult the revised “Non-flavoring food ingredients” section here and submit their comments by email to secretariat@iofi.org by 30 November 2026.
We encourage all interested stakeholders to review the revised section and share their feedback during the consultation period.
