  • Submits data on behalf of the industry to the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) for safety evaluations.
  • Works with internationally recognized safety assessment bodies to ensure the industry meets their needs for sound scientific data.
  • With IOFI-member EFFA, supports the European Union evaluation program for flavoring substances.
  • Through outreach via IOFI-member JFFMA, provides scientific support to scientists and authorities in the context of the development of an updated flavor safety evaluation method in Japan.
  • Along with IOFI-member US association FEMA, advocates for the Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) concept globally.
  • IOFI produces peer-reviewed scientific studies that illustrate IOFI knowledge of flavorings and their proper use.
